I just wrapped up my first full week focused on church planting. God was faithful in providing some great gospel opportunities as I spent time with a daughter sitting next to her mom in hospice care. I read through John 14 and explained the home Jesus is preparing for those who trust in His finished work on the cross. On Sunday, I had the joy of preaching for a pastor friend here in town. It was great to share the mission of Jesus and our responsibility to carry on that mission.
“Our goal is to have a group of people that are ‘going and telling’ before we hold services that provide the ‘come and see’ aspect of the church.”
Saturday was exciting as we began casting the vision of Restore Church and working at gathering people to join the first Life Group. This week I will follow up with others who were not able to make it on Saturday and share the vision while talking about their interest in committing. Our goal is to have a group of people that are “going and telling” before we hold services that provide the “come and see” aspect of the church.
An important part of prayer is praise! Would you praise God with us as He provided a laptop and printer, gift card to Walmart, two plants for the flower garden, tons of encouraging texts, friends to help paint, two new financial supporters, ham, a taco meal, burgers at a friend’s house... Wow, is God good!
Along with the praise, please pray that God would bring the right people along to be part of the first Life Group. I tend to be impatient so pray that I would be sensitive to God’s timing and rest in Him. An extra helping of wisdom would be awesome too!
In Christ,
Landon and Sarah Clouse
To accompany your praise-filled prayer, here is a piece of a hymn from Louisa M. R. Stead:
